About me…

Hi! I'm Rochelle and welcome to my blog, Dorset Mummy Writes.

After 12 years living in London, where
I worked as both a full-time and freelance Sub-Editor/ Production Editor on some of the country's biggest-selling women's magazines, I quit the big smoke – and my career – and moved down to Dorset in late 2013.

I've always loved the seaside and loved the idea of bringing a family up in close proximity to the beach. My husband's a local boy so we know
just how beautiful Dorset is – and having that knowledge, plus some family here, meant that making the move wasn't quite as scary as it could have been… But it's not been easy, especially as my second daughter decided to arrive just a week after we moved the 100+ miles (thankfully she didn't decide to come on moving day itself, which was my biggest fear!!). I found myself in a new house, a new county and with a new baby in very quick succession but I'm pleased to say that we all survived those tricky newborn weeks and we're now loving getting out and about exploring.

So, this blog came about in part so I could keep up my journalistic skills and write regularly but also so I could talk about the area where I live, my life as a mummy here and how the two hopefully work so well together.

On top of that, I'm also working to establish myself as a copywriter and proofreader so life is fun, but pretty hectic!
